Description of Melbourne Art Classes version of Sip and Paint Classes

Known globally as Sip and Paint Art Workshops OR paint and sip, we also call them CASUAL ART WORKSHOPS, and have been running them for years before the sipandpaint craze was a thing!!

At Melbourne Art Classes, you might sip and paint concurrently (whatever you prefer) and you will definitely paint, but the workshop format is quite distinct from the typical sip and paint type sessions that have popped up globally. The themes of our workshops are very well planned, sophisticated and yet designed to be attainable by all levels in smaller, well-facilitated and highly informative group sessions.

    Some of our workshops are longer and cover an important Foundation subject as well as an exemplary painting project

    Some workshops are specifically to get a good feel for a new medium. Materials are provided and techniques are demonstrated.

    Sometimes, weather allowing, we spread out across indoors and the outdoor studio.

    Gift certificates can be sent out when you decide to give a friend the experience of a casual art workshop or a regular term group.

  • Ocean painting themes

    There is nothing quite as relaxing (to look at) as a painting of the ocean. We often schedule different ones casually throughout the year.

    Everybody is always amazed at their own results when given a multitude of mixed media tools to utilize and a cool theme with a drawing to transfer (those who can draw do their own) and a harmonious colour scheme.

    Learning by adopting the style of a master in your own tribute artwork is not just about getting a popular piece for your wall. You actually learn new skills and think about subjects in a new way.

  • Gettin sticky with it

    Collage is a sticky business, using gel medium to apply all manner of collected or hand-created paper bits to incorporate into a mixed media project

  • Tackle a deep space project

    Getting a nebula to glow is just the beginning in a painting project like this. You will discover many tips and tricks with materials and techniques for acrylics on canvas.

  • Impressionism never gets old

    Boats and water,waterlilies and other subjects of the French Impressionists are used as inspiration with luscious daubs of thick medium to get the classic look and feel

  • Paint a large abstract

    This (once-a-year) special full-day workshop is for those who want a big artwork for their wall, cannot afford the ones they like and would like to be guided over a full day in creating their own abstract artwork.

Casual Art Workshop Bookings

Clever designs and techniques are shared with you so you can enjoy creating a super special painting at our studios. You can even book one for your own home(s)/workplaces or by Zoom video facilitation.

The MELBOURNE ART CLASSES’ point of difference is the sophisticated themes and the diverse mixed media techniques you learn while enjoying some creative company and your choice of beverage/snacks.

NB. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO MAXIMISE LEARNING IN A CASUAL SETTING, LOOK FOR THE FOUNDATION MODULE WORKSHOPS, WHERE WE SCHEDULE A LONGER WORKSHOP, FOCUSING ON ONE FOUNDATION ART SUBJECT WITH A PAINTING PROJECT TO EXEMPLIFY THE INCORPORATION OF THIS LEARNING MODULE IN PLANNING A PAINTING.

Casual Painting Cancellation Policy 
To cancel your casual booking, you must do so up to 7 days prior to your session to receive a full refund. If something comes up within 7 days of the session and you need to cancel or reschedule, a $25 rebooking fee per seat applies. A ’No call, No Show’ cannot be rescheduled and no refund will be due.  If you booking has been made with a gift voucher, you can redeem it as booked,  or give notice and  exchange it towards another workshop, group or private class  or framing option. No cash refunds are due on gift certificates.
