JANUARY INTENSIVE ART WORKSHOPS

🎨 While many are travelling in January, and Melbourne is a bit quieter than usual, you can be using your Saturdays in January 2026 to launch head-long into your creative side and achieve a great level of both practical and theoretical skill in our 4 x full day art workshops. (you can book individually or grab a discounted bundle)

🎨 Each Full-day workshop is focused on 1 of the foundations subjects, and culminates in a pre-planned painting project that includes the skillful application of this particular module of creative development. See the outlines below.

BOOKINGS
  1. PAINT APPLICATION TECHNIQUES

SATURDAY JANUARY 3: 10-5.30 PM
This image is a mockup, using two different PROMPTS that we have worked on in other casual workshops.
Lush forest,rocks, stream, cascades & peacock (optional)
This project will allow for the demonstrations in acrylics and practice of multiple paint application techniques, including, but not restricted to: STENCILLING, LAYERING, ATOMISING, SCUMBLING, GLAZING, IMPASTO, KNIFING,STAMPING, HAND-PRINTING (Bring your A4 canvas pad if you want to kick-start your own swatches of different approaches and layering there-of.)

As always, participants will see how a harmonious colour scheme and a strong value pattern (Notan) can influence the impact, mood and general interest in a painting.

2. COLOUR MASTERY - PAINTING THE OCEAN

SATURDAY JANUARY 10: 10 AM – 5:30 PM

The second FULL DAY INTENSIVE painting workshop will include an overview of all Theory basics and will be covering a deep dive into COLOUR MASTERY

(This online module will be provided with a login for ongoing use for participants)- Bring an A4 canvas pad if you want to kick-start your own colour 'bible' to develop more at home.
In addition, specific considerations with be learned when painting the movement and behaviour of the ocean.

3. VALUE, CONTRAST, LIGHT & SHADE

SATURDAY JANUARY 17: 10 AM – 5:30 PM

The third FULL DAY INTENSIVE painting workshop will include an overview of all Theory basics and will have a deep focus on Value, Contrast, Light & Shade

(This online VALUE, CONTRAST, LIGHT & SHADE module will be provided with a login for ongoing use for participants)
In addition, specific considerations with be learned when painting the landscape and capturing the climate & temperature of a place.

PROJECT - (several references are supplied ,with choices of harmonious colour schemes) - PAINTING GUM TREES IN THE OUTBACK

4. COMPOSITION & DESIGN

SATURDAY JANUARY 24: 10 AM – 5:30 PM

The Fourth FULL DAY INTENSIVE painting workshop will include an overview of all Theory basics and will have a deep focus on Composition & Design. This online theory module will be provided with a login for ongoing use for participants.

PROJECT - (working from imagination and several prompts - PAINTING A MIXED MEDIA, MONOCHROMATIC STILL LIFE WITH COLLAGE
